Mercer County Park App Receive NACo Award

Started in 1970, the annual Achievement Award Program is a non-competitive awards program that recognizes innovative county government programs. This year, the Mercer County Park Commission was awarded an Innovation in Technology award for its Mercer County Park smartphone app. W&Co. designed and developed this app on behalf of the commission, but it the commission's dedication to the continued support of the app that has made it such a success. Congratulations to all!

DAAP Think Tank

W&Co. was invited by the University of Cincinatti's Department of Architecture, Art & Planning to work with industry leaders to imagine what a wayfinding curriculum could be for the department. Joined by thought leaders in various other segments of disciple, including planning, signage, and digital design, we helped craft an outline of the required tools and learning needed to build a viable program.

Beyond Print: Digital Innnovation

Vijay Mathews started out as a print designer, but not only has he successfully transitioned into interactive design, he is principal of a studio designing and developing some of the most cutting-edge mobile apps in the market. In this DesignCast, Vijay discussed how he and his partners leveraged the talents of their team to tackle unique problems with innovative solutions and interfaces, and how taking risks can pay off when you're addressing a need and know what users are willing to try.

Think Creatively!

Prinipal, Vijay Mathews, led a workshop about responsive web design. This workshop introduced attendees to responsive web design, an approach that utilizes flexible grids to respond to a user’s experience based on screen size, platform and orientation. It also addressed the importance of how content can and should be accessed given the interface.

W&Co. was asked to talk at Wolff Olins New York. With the company's one-year anniversary approaching, Principal, Vijay Mathews, began the talk with the origins of the company. From there he presented three projects that showcased the variety of work the company has performed over the past year. “Phygital” Wayfinding and Experience Mapping

Mark Vanderklipp of Corbin Design presented new wayfinding and experience mapping technologies at International Downtown Association’s 2011 Annual Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. myNav featured in the SEGD Magazine

SEGD showcased our first example of the myNav platform. With myNav: Peter Cooper Village/Stuyvesant Town, users can browse or search a destination directory and generate a map that shows the shortest path to campus destinations from their current location. However, instead of listing step-by-step walking directions,  the app shifts into augmented reality mode,  pointing to the user’s destination as overlayed on the campus.
